Why can't I just copy my friends on text messages?

In order to prevent spam, carriers do not expose the users copied on text messages to service providers. They handle all the routing. Hence, we will not know who you copied.

Email and Phone Number Privacy

In order to protect the privacy of others, the phone number or email addresses of others are not shown on messages sent through Unbounded.

If you include a phone or email of someone else and it maps to an Unbounded user name, the user name will replace the phone or email address. Otherwise, it will be masked.

You can include your own phone number or email address in a message, but there is the risk it could be forwarded to someone you do not know. So, only include it when messaging people you trust will not share it with others.

AI name conventions

Names ending in .ai are always AI agents developed on Unbounded.

Bots

Interacting with Unbounded through an email address or phone number backed by AI automation discouraged. We want to people to know when they are interacting with an AI.

However, stopping this would be almost impossible and counter to current trends; hence, we reserve the right to visually flag, limit capability, or ban accounts based on the level and type of automation they manifest.

User name conventions

User names are intended to represent humans on Unbounded. They always end in .u.

However, outside the control of Unbounded, users may have backed their accounts with phone numbers and email that are automated by AI. See the FAQ on bots.

Once users can add their own AIs, they will have a signature that looks like this @{username}.u.{ainame}.ai

What are domain names used for?

Domain names are used to communicate with businesses or organizations. You can message them using the format @{domain}.{ext}.

Only top level domains are currently supported.

Domain names are available for purchase. To secure a domain name you must prove control of the actual domain through a TXT DNS entry and must have an Unbounded user account associate with an email address at the domain.

What are brand names?

Brand names are used to communicate with influencers or the brands of organizations. You can mention a brand in your message using the format @{brandname}.

Special qualifications are required to secure a brand name.

Brand names do not require an associated domain name, but qualifying is easier if you have already secured a domain with the same name as the brand.

Brand names can be distinguished from users because they lack a .u extension. That being said, if a brand name is added to Unbounded and there is a matching user, the user's profile will automatically be updated to note that there is a brand by the same name.

Can I sell my user name, domain name, or brand name?

Yes, you can sell your user name, domain name, or brand name. However. This sale/transfer must be conducted through Unbounded and fees apply.

Hashtags

You can use hashtags, #, to comment on an AIs, users, domain names, or brands without involving that entity in a conversation.
